Advanced ferrite permanent magnet patents

If your team works on this technology, the risk is building next to a competitor's claim you have not read yet, often published only in Chinese, Japanese or Korean.

Free: the latest weekly issue on this and the other rare-earth-free magnet technologies, one plain-English entry per invention.

Hexagonal strontium and barium ferrites are the main rare-earth-free magnets in volume production. Filings cover La–Co substitution, sintering and powder routes, bonded ferrites and ferrite magnet shapes for motors.

Ferrite sintered magnet

WO-2026196739-A1 · published 2026-09-24 · Proterial Ltd [JP] · offices: WO

Proterial claims a sintered strontium ferrite magnet with the hexagonal crystal structure used in all hard ferrites. It adds 0.1-1.2 mass% MnO and 0.1-2.8 mass% of a rare-earth oxide that must include lanthanum. It also adds 0.06-0.7 mass% of zinc and/or nickel oxide. Lanthanum substitution is the standard route to higher-grade ferrites. The claimed additives do not include cobalt, the costly additive in today's top grades; the full text will show whether cobalt is excluded. The record gives no remanence or coercivity values, the two figures that rank a magnet grade.

Hexagonal ferrite magnetic powder for bonded magnets and its manufacturing method, and bonded magnets and their manufacturing method.

JP-7915584-B2 · published 2026-09-04 · Dowa Electronics Materials Co Ltd · offices: JP

DOWA Electronics Materials holds a Japanese grant on hexagonal ferrite powder for bonded magnets. The earlier application claims lanthanum-substituted strontium ferrite with small cobalt and zinc additions and a coercivity of at least 2000 oersted (Oe). The aim is higher remanence in bonded magnets; the grant's claims are not yet in our record. Bonded ferrite serves small motors and sensors.

Dual-purpose wiring type ferrite rotor blower

Novel high-stability preparation process of doped ferrite magnetic steel

CN-122658869-A · published 2026-08-28 · Dongtai Dongbao Electromagnetic Material Tech Co Ltd · offices: CN

A Chinese application claims a route for doped ferrite magnets: additives at a second ball-milling after pre-sintering, pulsed-field pressing, graded sintering and ageing. The goal is stable magnetic properties under hot-cold cycling and long service; no values are given.

Preparation method of high magnetic energy product rare earth doped permanent magnetic ferrite

CN-122627786-A · published 2026-08-25 · Shenzhen Xinyi Magnetic Mat Co Ltd · offices: CN

CN-122627786-A claims a ferrite doped with gadolinium and lanthanum, microwave-sintered in four stages. The abstract reports remanence (the field a magnet keeps) of 472 mT and coercivity (resistance to demagnetisation) of 321 kA/m. Filer's own figures; target use is electric-vehicle motors.

Double-layer composite permanent magnetic ferrite magnetic shoe and preparation method thereof

CN-122638291-A · published 2026-08-25 · Hunan Aerospace Magnet & Magneto Co Ltd · offices: CN

A Chinese application claims an arc-shaped strontium ferrite tile sintered in one piece from two layers: a high-performance working face and a low-cost mounting face. The filer says the layers, pressed together in an orientation field, do not separate or crack. It cuts material cost; no magnetic values are given.

Multipolar tangential magnetization integral rotor punching structure and ferrite permanent magnet synchronous motor

CN-122639543-A · published 2026-08-25 · Shandong Univ · offices: CN

A Chinese application claims a rotor lamination for a ferrite motor with tangentially magnetised (spoke) magnets. Flux-isolation slots sit inside each magnet slot, with bridges between them. The filer claims near rare-earth power and torque density at much lower cost, without figures. Spoke rotors are the usual route to competitive ferrite motors.

A competitor's filing on this technology is easy to miss when it is published only in Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Our weekly briefing covers new filings in this and the other rare-earth-free magnet technologies, with a plain-English note on each family. Your address is used to send the sample, to follow up at most twice about it (one click stops that) and, if you ask, to set up a trial or subscription. No list sale.
